Blind solving allows to perform astrometry (determining the celestial coordinates) of an image without prior knowledge of the celestial coordinates of objects in the field of view.

The efficiency of a blind solve's convergence to a solution is closely tied to the precision of the FITS image scale information:

  • With sufficiently accurate image scale details, convergence typically occurs in less than 30 seconds.

  • In cases of highly inaccurate image scale information, the convergence process might extend to 10 minutes or more.

  • If convergence by PinPoint is not achieved within a 10-minute timeframe, the Blind Solve operation will be deemed unsuccessful.
