The LesvePhotometry star sequence concept is analogous to an ID Card in Phoranso. A star sequence contains essential information about a Target star and its associated calibration stars (Reference, Check and Comparison stars) required for the photometric reduction process.
Phoranso offers a flexible method for directly importing star sequences from LesvePhotometry in the Variable Star Database. Let's explore an example illustrating the process of exporting star sequences from LesvePhotometry and subsequently importing them as ID Cards in Phoranso.
Exporting star sequences from LesvePhotometry
- Navigate to the LesvePhotometry File menu and select Maintenance of default database. This action will bring up a dialog box, as shown below. The Variable Selector section at the right lists all star sequences present in LesvePhotometry's database.
- Using the mouse, select the star sequences you wish to export. In the example screenshot, eight sequences are chosen.
- Utilize Windows Explorer to navigate to the designated folder where you want to export the star sequences.
- Within that folder, create an empty text file and name it, for instance, Export.txt
- Click the Export selected star sequences button.
- Use the File Selector to locate the empty text file, and Open it
- A dialog box appears asking you if you agree to append the exported sequences. Click Yes.
- A confirmation box will appear, indicating the number of 'groups' (star sequences) exported.
- Click OK
- Exit LesvePhotometry. This is imperative as otherwise the import in Phoranso will fail.
Importing star sequences in Phoranso
In the preceding section, we generated a file named Export.txt containing all exported star sequences. Follow these steps to import LesvePhotometry star sequences into Phoranso:
- Navigate to the Tools menu in Phoranso. Select Import LesvePhotometry Star Sequences. This action will display the below window.
- Click the button with the 3 dots (...) in the upper right corner of the window. This opens a file selector. Navigate to the folder containing the Export.txt file, choose it, and click Open.
- Each star sequence will be coverted into an ID Card and imported into the Variable Star Database. If a corresponding ID Card for the star sequence being imported already exists in the database, Phoranso will execute the action specified in the If ID Card already exists in Phoranso:
- Skip LP Sequence: the LesvePhotometry sequence will be disregarded
- Overwrite with LP Sequence: the current ID Card in the Phoranso Variable Star Database will be substituted with the ID Card obtained from the LesvePhotometry sequence.
- Ask: Phoranso will inquire whether the existing ID Card should be overwritten with the LP Sequence, providing the options to answer Yes or No
- Upon successful completion of the import process, Phoranso will present a confirmation box indicating the number of new ID Cards added to the Variable Star Database.
To confirm the import's success, navigate to the Variable ID Card menu and select ID Card Manager, where all ID Cards of the Variable Star Database are displayed. It will include the newly imported star sequences.
